Attaching Records to a Question
Point Inciteful Med at the specific records that matter for the question you're asking.
By default, Inciteful Med uses everything it knows about your active patient when answering a question. But sometimes you only want it to focus on specific lab results, a single visit summary, or a recent imaging report. That's what attachments are for.
How to attach records
- Start typing your question in the search bar at the bottom of the thread.
- Click the paperclip icon next to the input.
- Pick the record(s) you want to attach.

Each attached record appears as a chip above the input. Click the X on a chip to remove it.
When to use attachments
- Asking about a specific lab result. "What does this CBC tell me about my immune system?" - attach just that lab.
- Comparing two visits. Attach two visit summaries and ask "What changed between these visits?"
- Asking about a specific document. "Summarize this discharge summary" - attach the discharge summary only.
When not to attach
For broad questions like "What questions should I ask my doctor?" or "Summarize my recent records", leave attachments empty. Inciteful Med will pull from the most relevant parts of the patient's full record automatically.
Don't have any records yet?
You can still ask questions. The active patient's profile and any notes you've added will be used as context. To get more out of attachments, see Adding records.
