Conducting Research

Saving a Report as PDF

Hand a clean copy of your research to your doctor.

Many doctors prefer a PDF over a link. Inciteful Med generates a print-ready PDF on demand.

How to save as PDF

  1. Open the thread that contains the report.
  2. In the report toolbar, click the printer icon (labeled Print PDF Report).
  3. After a moment, the PDF downloads to your device. The filename is the report date and a slug of the title.

The PDF is generated by Inciteful Med, not by your browser's print dialog - so the formatting is consistent regardless of which browser you're using.

What's included in the PDF

  • The questions you asked in the thread, above where you choose to print
  • The full report body with in-text citations
  • The complete reference list at the end with links to every source
  • The report date in the header

Tips for clinical visits

  • Print double-sided to keep page counts down - reports with lots of citations can run several pages.
  • Highlight the questions you most want to discuss before the appointment.
  • If the office allows it, upload the PDF to the patient portal ahead of time so it's in the chart.
  • See Talking to your doctor about a report from Inciteful Med for more on how to use the PDF in a visit.

Copying the report instead

If you only need the text - for example, to paste into a patient-portal message - use the Copy button in the same toolbar. It copies the report as clean Markdown, which pastes nicely into most editors and email clients.

Sharing a link instead of a file

If your recipient is comfortable with links, Sharing a report is faster and keeps citations interactive.
