Choosing Which Profile Stays Active
What the "Choose the profile that stays active" screen is asking, and what happens to the profiles you do not choose.

If you see a screen titled Choose the profile that stays active, your plan now covers fewer patient profiles than your account holds, and we need you to tell us which one keeps going. We will not guess this for you.
Why you are seeing it
Usually one of:
- Your free trial of Family ended and your account moved to Starter
- You moved from Family to Personal, which covers one profile
- A payment did not go through and the plan lapsed
Starter and Personal each cover one patient profile. Family covers everyone.
Nothing has been deleted
This is the important part. Every record, every question and every report on every profile is still there, and stays. You are not deleting anyone. You are telling us where new research should keep happening.
The list shows each profile with what it holds, like "12 records · 4 questions", so you can see at a glance which one is most active.
What happens to the others
They become read-only. You can still open them, read everything, and share or download any report. What pauses is new work: new questions, new uploads, automatic record syncing, and literature alerts.
See When a plan covers fewer profiles for the full picture.
Until you choose
While the choice is outstanding, new questions and uploads are paused on all of your patient profiles. That is deliberate: we would rather pause everything for a moment than guess which person matters most to you.
You can still ask general health questions that are not about a specific person. Use the General questions profile, which is never affected by any plan changes.
How to choose
Pick the profile you are most actively researching right now. If you are unsure, the record and question counts under each name are a good guide: the one you have put the most into is usually the one you will miss most.
If you choose the wrong one
Nothing is lost, and it can be put right. See I chose the wrong profile.
Getting the others back
Upgrading to Family turns them all back on at once, straight away, with nothing lost. Moving from Starter to Personal will not, because Personal also covers one profile.
