My Import Preview Shows the Wrong Patient
Picking the right person from a multi-patient export.
A common case: you exported FHIR from Apple Health on your phone, and the export contains records for multiple family members because everyone's connected portals share the same Apple Health vault. Or your hospital system gave you a single FHIR bundle that covers a few people you have proxy access to.
Inciteful Med detects this during the import preview and lets you choose.
During import
When you drop a FHIR file with multiple patients, the preview screen lists each patient found:
- A name (when the file includes names)
- The number of records for that patient
- A small sample of what's there
Each patient has a Keep / Ignore toggle.
Toggle off (set to "ignore") any patient you don't want to import. Only the patients you keep will be merged into the active patient profile in Inciteful Med.
Importing into the right Inciteful Med profile
The import goes into whichever patient profile you have selected when you start the import. Switch to the right profile first - using the patient picker in the top bar - then start the import.
Already imported the wrong person?
If you accidentally imported records for the wrong person, the fix is to revert the whole import - imports can only be removed as a single unit, not record-by-record.
- Go to Recent Imports on the Medical Data page.
- Find the import job and click Revert.
- Confirm. Every record from that import is removed in one step.
Then re-do the import with the correct patient profile selected (and the wrong patient toggled off in the preview).

Why does the file have other people in it?
A few common reasons:
- Apple Health Records stores data for everyone whose portal is linked on your phone. Family members sometimes share an iCloud account, and a parent might have proxy access to a child's portal.
- Hospital portals with proxy access - if you manage records for an aging parent or a child, your single login may pull records for both of you.
- Insurance member portals sometimes include all dependents in one export.
This is a limitation of how the export was produced, not a bug. Choosing per-patient at import time is the right way to handle it.
