Which Records Should I Add to Get the Most Out of Inciteful Med?
You don't need to add every record you've ever had - but the more relevant context Inciteful Med has, the more personalized your research can be.
You don't need to add every record you've ever had - but the more relevant context Inciteful Med has, the more personalized your research can be. Here's a practical priority list.
High value, low effort
- Recent labs (the last year or two). Lab values are concrete and Inciteful Med can use them in detailed answers.
- Active medications. What you're taking now - including dose. This affects almost every question.
- Allergies and intolerances. Especially important for treatment-option questions.
- Active diagnoses and problem list. What conditions are currently being managed.
Most patient portals let you download these in bulk as a FHIR or C-CDA export - see Importing a FHIR or Apple Health file and Importing a C-CDA file.
High value when relevant
- Recent visit summaries for the condition you're researching.
- Imaging or pathology reports - for cancer, GI, neuro, and similar questions.
- Hospital discharge summaries - recent inpatient stays.
You can upload these as PDFs from your portal or snap a picture of them - see Uploading files.
Useful as profile notes
- Family history - relevant conditions in close relatives.
- Symptoms over time - frequency, triggers, what makes them better or worse.
- Lifestyle context - exercise, sleep, diet, supplements, occupation.
- What your doctor told you - in their words.
These don't usually live in a portal but matter for research. Capture them in the Notes field on the patient profile - see Editing a patient profile.
Lower priority
- Records older than 5-10 years (unless directly relevant to the question)
- Routine annual physicals with no notable findings
- Dental, vision, or other specialty records unrelated to your current research
You can always add these later if a specific question calls for them.
Privacy reminder
Records are encrypted at rest and only used to inform your research. Inciteful Med doesn't sell, share, or train on your data. See Is Inciteful Med HIPAA compliant? and How do I delete my data? for details.
