Signing Out and Using Inciteful Med on a Shared Device

Keep your research private when more than one person uses the same computer or phone.

Inciteful Med is designed for one person per account, but accounts often live on devices that get shared - a family laptop, a kitchen tablet, a workplace computer. Here's how to keep things tidy.

Signing out

Click your initials in the top-right and choose Sign out. Your session ends immediately. The next person to open the app will see the sign-in screen.

If you forget to sign out, Inciteful Med eventually times out your session for security-see Why am I seeing "Your session has expired"?.

Multiple people, one device

Two patterns work well:

  1. Separate browser profiles. Most browsers (Chrome, Edge, Safari, Firefox) support multiple profiles, each with its own cookies. Each person uses their own profile, signs into their own Inciteful Med account, and stays signed in there.
  2. One profile, sign in and out as needed. Simpler, but easier to mix up- make a habit of signing out when you're done.

Caregiver workflow

If you're a caregiver researching for multiple people, you don't need separate accounts - use patient profiles under your own account instead. See Switching between patient profiles.

A separate account only makes sense when the other person will also use Inciteful Med directly with their own login.

Public or shared computers

For genuinely public computers (libraries, hotels, etc.), sign in only if you can sign out before walking away. Better: use your phone instead, where the session stays on your own device.
